New Logo!

Notice anything new about the Blog?

I LOVE my new logo.

It's all thanks to the fantastic Rachel at Titsworth Creative. She 'got' exactly what I was looking for in the first try and I'm so delighted. So if you need website design, a logo or any re-branding help - call her up.

Even better, she's local! Support your local businesses!

Thanks again Rachel!

Ausgust 26, 2007: Ashley & Ryan

I met up with Ashley & Ryan this morning at the lush and beautiful Laguna Gloria to shoot some portraits.

Ashley & Ryan had a very distinct vision for what they wanted out of their portraits. I love when clients have opinions and suggestions!

Despite the heat and a mad search for the security guard to open up the villa, we had a great time and made some classic and fun images together.

Thanks again you two. It was truly a pleasure!

I generally tell couples not to wear the same color for a portrait, but these two proved me wrong. I love how they are in the same color, but are not matchy-matchy. They looked great!

They have a sa-weet car that we worked into a few shots.

And into the Villa (and air conditioning) we go!

One more....

August 12, 2007: Anne & Wes Engagement Shoot

I photographed Anne & Wes in Frisco, Texas the other weekend. They were a delight. We shot a few locations and had a great time. They were up for anything and braved the HOT weather.

Thanks so much you two and I can't wait to shoot your wedding in October!

August 7, 2007: Sandra

Meet Ranger.....He is the current reigning baby at Sandra's house.

Soon he will be joined by a little baby boy!

Sandra and Greg welcomed me into their home to create some maternity images as well as a current family portrait. Sandra is so beautiful and graceful (yes, even at 8 months pregnant!). I so enjoyed meeting all three of you and am looking forward to meeting your son. Thanks again and enjoy the photos!

New Maternity Campaign

I thought I'd show you my new maternity advertisement.

Maternity sessions are wonderful. I love shooting them.

I know when I look at my daughter, I can hardly believe she was ever small enough to fit inside my belly. Documenting this brief time is definitely something you'll be glad you did.

July 9, 2007: Clare

Surprise!

You remember Kathryn and her kiddos from this post. Well, baby Clare decided to make an appearance a month early! She is a precious little bundle of miracle. The pictures don't really do justice to how small she is. She is tiny but perfect and I'm so glad I got to meet her.

Very proud brothers and sister.

July 7, 2007: Quinn

On Saturday, I went back and visited Quinn for her second Watch Me Grow session. I LOVE when parents choose this option because I get to see the amazing changes in their children.

You can see Quinn's newborn session here.

I am happy to report that she is a delightful baby girl of four months. All smiles and completely fascinated by my camera. Mom & Dad looked much more rested too. Plus she's got those chubby legs that I just can't get enough of. Thanks Heather & Mike! I'm so happy I'm getting to know your little girl.

On to the pictures!

We shot Quinn in this chair as a newborn and wanted to do it again for comparison. She barely fits in it now! I also think she's laughing at us here for even attempting it.

July 7, 2007: Cami & Debbie

On Saturday, I met Cami & Debbie. Cami had flown in from Florida to visit her mom on her birthday and wanted to create some portraits to celebrate her mom.

I had a blast with these ladies. It's rare that I get to photograph adult children and their parents and these two are obviously close. They claimed they didn't know what to do in front of the camera - but look at them! Hot tamales, both of them.

Thanks again Cami & Debbie! It was wonderful meeting you!

A bit of news from me!

I got some exciting news on Friday. I found out that I was accepted into the
Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA). This is a prestigious wedding
photography organization that accepts only a small percentage of photographers
that apply.

This is professionally and personally a very gratifying moment for
me and I wanted to share it with all of you! Thanks to all of my clients for
letting my do what I do.

Here's what they have to say about themselves. (from the WPJA.com website):

"The Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA), an International, membership-based organization, represents professional photographers skilled in the documentation of weddings and events in a candid, unobtrusive style. The WPJA was founded to uphold excellence in the area of wedding photojournalism.

Leading the way in Wedding Photojournalism, WPJA represents the most
discriminating talent around the world technically, creatively and visually.
Qualified members hold industry-leading standards, skills and business
integrity."

I highly recommend checking out their website. There are some amazing images to view. I've also added them as a link over at the right. They also publish an awesome online wedding photography magazine called Wedpix. I will soon add a link to that as well.

Just wanted to share - hope all of you had a wonderful weekend and a Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there.

Trashing the Dress: The Bridal 2.0

I'm looking for some fun and fearless women to photograph!

The Bridal 2.0, aka, Trash the Dress session is a new offering from Shannon Cunningham Photography. I shoot you in your wedding gown on location without the pre-wedding worry of getting a speck of dirt on your dress. This session is edgier and more adventurous than the traditional bridal session and is shot after the wedding.

Keep in mind that you don't have to literally 'Trash' your beautiful gown. In fact, we probably won't. This session gives you and I a chance to try some more dramatic and risk taking ideas- maybe something more urban, an unexpected location, or maybe just laying down on the grass with the autumn leaves all around you. It's not rolling in the mud just for the sake of it.

I'm currently looking for brides (or former brides or clients that just want to have some fun and make some tremendous images. I don't have to have shot your wedding.) that are interested in a Bridal 2.0 shoot.

The first five people to sign up will receive a complimentary session plus some other fun stuff.

Come on, that dress is just sitting in the closet. Let's go have some fun!

Sample Album Pictures

OK, here are the pictures as promised! This is my new Fine Art Book and I am very excited about it.

Here is the cover. It is totally customizable. You can literally put any design on your cover - there are no restrictions. This album is a mixture of wedding images, so I did it in black with a photo on the front. It's water and fingerprint resistant. You can also have a matching book jacket made.

The pages are made from fine art paper. These particular ones have a matte look and feel to them, although you can have the pages created with glossy paper.
As with all my digitally created albums, the pages are digitally created by me and are done in a storytelling (or magazine, or coffee-table or flush mount: they're called lots of things) album format that tells the story of your wedding day.

Here's the best part - there is no seam in the middle! I can now create full page spreads. This book is 9X12, so this image is 12X18. The photos have quite an impact at this size.

The pages are very sturdy with a cardboard-like feel to them.

The Fine Art Book comes in a variety of sizes from 4X4 to 12X12.

It's also my recommendation for your custom sign in book (great at a 5X7 size), made from your engagement session images.

Cool link for brides

From aboutthedress.com

I love fashion illustration! It's so vintage and classic. It's also really rare to see beautiful bridal fashion illustration. If you love it like I do, you should check out this site. I just stumbled upon it and thought it was cool. I can't really recommend it as I haven't ordered anything from it, but it's definitely worth checking out.

They'll make a custom drawing of you in your wedding gown. Maybe they can draw inspiration
from one of your bridal portraits? (Hint Hint :) )

Kathryn, Will, Jean Paul & Anna Laura - April 21, 2007

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing Kathryn, Will, John Paul & Anna Laura. Kathryn is due with her fourth baby in July and wanted to document her pregnancy and her kids as a Father's Day present for her husband.

She wanted natural, not too stuffy pictures, so that's what we did! Wrangling three kids under the age of six is always a challenge, but they were delightful and so much fun! I love kid chaos. Enjoy the pictures.

A dramatic portrait of the belly.

The belly featuring Kathryn's Aggie ring.
I am all about the little kid feet lately.

John Paul with big brother Will in the background. I love this shot.
