Update on your clumsy photographer

I am alive and well!
Savannah has been saying "poor clumsy Mama bonked her head and then her face was all red" for the last week. I think that about sums it up.

I ran off to my parent's house and let them take care of me for a few days and then went on a long weekend with the husband. I am as good as new. However, I don't think I have any new superpowers or anything, which is a little disappointing frankly.

I have a busy weekend ahead, so look for updates with pretty people early next week. In the meantime, Savannah started ballet class and it is about the cutest thing I've ever seen.

And here is the class. Pardon the cruddy picture quality. I had the P&S with me. Note them all nicely standing in a line. What's my kid doing? Standing the other way, because she's just that way. Totally her own girl. I think the poor teacher told her to get back on her piece of tape 400 times in 45 minutes.

Really? I mean...really? Did that just happen?

So my husband is out of town. I thought I'd be hip mom and take Savannah to Central Market for dinner and some playground time. Dinner was great - we got gelato afterwards and then settled in for some playground time.

I was chasing after her on the playground. We were playing this game where I'd sneak up on her and scare her - she loves it. However, I misjudged a height and cracked the heck out of my head on a metal support. There was blood, there were paramedics, there was a nauseous Shannon. It was all very horrible and totally scary as I had no support at home.

THANK YOU to the lovely strangers at Central Market that took care of me and my daughter. THANK YOU to my wonderful neighbors who checked on me all night. Seriously, Texans are the best - THE BEST!!!

I am in general OK - I have a massive headache. I, of course, took pictures of my bloody head and will get around to posting them soon, but I wanted to let you know that in addition to a concussed head, I will be taking a little R&R week around here. It was actually planned in advance, but I'll be a bit slow on email and phone calls.

As always, please call if there are any photography related emergencies. You know I'm happy to chat with any of you!

Savannah eating Dinner

By the way, these were all taken with my new Point and Shoot camera, the Canon SD-870. I'm still playing around with it and figuring somethings out, but so far, so good. I can definitely recommend it. Put a question in the comments or email me if you want more info.

June 4, 2008: Jackie & Matt are Engaged!

Matt and Jackie are getting married! Woo! I really, really like these two. They are so fun and down to Earth and generally relaxed about everything. I enjoyed my time with them on Wednesday quite a bit.

As I can't mention enough, my clients rock and I love that I generally leave a session happier than when I got there because I got to hang out with some really nice people. We headed up to Mt. Bonnell to shoot some engagement portraits. Oh, Mt. Bonnell, I could never stay mad at you and your pretty sunsets and cool stonework.

Thanks so much you guys and enjoy! I'll chat with you soon!

May 31, 2008: Adrienne & Garrod

I have been looking forward to this wedding for quite a while.

Adrienne and Garrod are two of the most wonderful people you can meet. They really are two halves of a whole and I am just beyond happy for them. This is a 'comfortable chair' post as I was all over town with them yesterday and went a little blog crazy.

The day started, as most weddings do, at the Bowling Alley. Oh wait, most wedding days don't start at the Bowling Alley! But that's what makes this wedding extra-awesome!

All the gents were having a few casual games of bowling before the main festivities. And when I say casual, I actually mean totally competitive. These guys had their own shoes and balls, y'all. The balls had names too - this is Garrod with 'Umberto'.

I love this series - I believe this is a come from behind, last-minute victory.

Meanwhile, the girls were having slightly more typical pre-game festivities. This is Adrienne opening a quilt that her Nana and Aunt's quilting circle spent two (2!!!!!) years making. Amazing.

A little make-up

Then we were off to Green Pastures in South Austin. I cannot say enough about this place. Everything ran so smoothly and the food was delish! Plus it's just a lovely, southern venue. Love it!Tanya and her team did an amazing job.

Getting pinned. One of Garrod's groomsmen did all the boutonniere pinning and he was like a ninja! So fast you guys! He should rent himself out for weddings.

Men.

Adrienne

Here we go....

They had a special first dance planned - perfectly executed.

Thank you so much for allowing me this wonderful time with you and your families. Have a wonderful time in Costa Rica!

May 28, 2008: Chris & Jessica: Engaged

Chris & Jessica met me up on Mt. Bonnell Wednesday for some perfect evening lighting conditions. Add in the fact that they are in looove, pretty darn easy on the eyes and incredibly nice people and you get a really nice photo session.

Thanks so much you guys! Only one month to go - I'll see you soon.

Enjoy!

May 24, 2008: Kathryn & Daniel

Hey! If your name is Debbie or Bill and your kids are Kathryn and Daniel, then stop reading right now!!! I'll wait....

OK, so this was a top secret anniversary mission by Kathryn and Daniel. Apparently, they used to get brother/sister pictures taken every year, but with kids and moving and just general stuff getting in the way, the tradition lapsed....until this year!! Woo! We had so much fun in downtown. Adult siblings are a blast to shoot and these two were (as most of my clients are) up for anything.

Thanks for being so fun you guys! (And for being so understanding about my early equipment issues - darn technology!)

Enjoy!

And you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way.....

May 18, 2008: Ashley & Nathan

Ashley & Nathan! These two wonderful people were married at Hamilton Twelve this past Sunday in front of their very happy family and friends.

Despite the heat, they had a very meaningful and sweet ceremony followed by a laid-back reception. It really fit the two of them perfectly.

Thanks to Melissa for helping me out with this one!

Enjoy!

Reading a note from her Groom

This was a really lovely prayer circle of their families at the end of the ceremony.

Head's up!

You have to love Dad.

Did I mention that it was about a billion degrees on Sunday?

This seemed like the perfect end to the day.

Have fun in Cali you two! See you soon!

May 17, 2008: Caroline and Jonathan

Oh these two! Love them! You may remember Caroline and Jonathan from their engagement session a few weeks back. As I suspected, their wedding did not disappoint! They had a beautiful ceremony at Villa Antonia after the storm clouds cleared out followed by a rockin' reception.

I was chatting with Caroline on Monday, going over the timeline and details, and she all of a sudden said "I can't stop smiling and it's only Monday!". That, my friends, is how you know a wedding is going to be perfect.

Thanks to Tyler Schmitt for helping me out with this one!!!

Enjoy the images and have a blast in Greece (take me with you!!!!).

The Longhorns got to wear orange and the Aggie got to wear maroon.

See? SO happy! I have about 20 pictures of Caroline laughing like this.

So funny story - I was shooting the cake cutting and one of the guests was chatting with me. He said "Cool cake!". I said "I know, it's awesome, right?" Then guest says "It reminds me of college". I am now confused. Was he in a pirate society in college? He is a fan of the maritime industries? I have no idea. THEN, guest says "Ohhhhhhh...wait, it's a treasure chest - I thought it was a keg!" I love my job.

A pile of shoes in the corner - you know what that means right?

Crazy dancing!

The getaway - bubbles and rose petals. Who says you have to settle for just one?

Thanks so much you two! I enjoyed every minute!

Cue Dramatic Music

Just a head's up reminder that my wedding pricing will be changing June 1. I'm not doubling my pricing (not even close), just making a few changes to the packages and my contract.

If you meet with me in the month of May about your wedding, current pricing, for you, will be effective until June 30th.

Have a great weekend (I'll be at TWO weddings! Whee!) and let's put all this business talk behind us with some kickin' images on Monday.

As a pallette cleanser, here is one of the Little Dictator. (Two and 1/2 is kicking my butt, y'all)

Casey, Rhonda, Gracie & Will

Fun family today, blog readers!
Despite the steamy weather yesterday (and I mean steamy - I was pretty gross about 5 minutes into this session) we had a blast shooting in downtown.

Will and Gracie were so well behaved and did pretty much everything I asked them too. Will is only a few months older than my daughter and was so much more cooperative! I later found out that might have had something to do with a bribe of ice cream. But whatever works, I say. Towards the end of the session, he'd ask 'Is it time for ice cream now?' Cuties.

Just Mom & Dad, because they were once Casey & Rhonda

I love Gracie's sassy haircut.

Thanks again you four. I had so much fun. I hope you enjoyed burgers and milkshakes after the shoot!

Maternity: Deborah & Matt

One quick one from Deborah's maternity session yesterday.
She has the bump of the year so far. I can't wait to meet this little one.

Album Pictures

It's been about three months now that I've been meaning to post some pictures of a new sample album. As I've had about a week off and there's not a lot of new pictures for you to look at, now seems like a good time.

OK here we go:

This album comes wrapped in the most beautiful packaging. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but a nice touch for sure. It's fun to open a box and have this looking at you.

The covers come in almost unlimited combinations. This album is pretty simple, but do you want a leopard fur cover? Done. How about three cutouts with pictures and two different colors of leather? Done.

Seriously; So. Many. Choices. It's great.

The pages have the feel of photographic paper and are THICK! Probably about a 1/8 of an inch. There is a seam down the middle of the page in this album, but you can get a 'creased' album page, which means no gap in your image. It can go all the way across the page.

Nice, rounded binding. It's incredibly sturdy. You can also opt for a square binding.

This album is an upgrade from the ones included in my packages. The package album is amazing too, so no worries about that. If you're interested in looking at the album and swatches, call me and stop by and check it out.

Just a reminder that I only do albums for my clients. If I didn't shoot your wedding or portrait, I'm sorry, but I can't do an album for you.

On the pretty couples and adorable kids front, my week is going to get K-RAZY starting tomorrow (if the weather holds out). Check back soon for updates!

Kira & John: Engaged, Part II

OK, here is the full Kira and John post! Yea!

Wait until you see these big smiles! Kira and John have been together for a long time, but they act (and I mean this is the most positive way) like they just started dating. They are adorable and soooo fun!

They have the coolest wedding date of the year - 08/08/08 and it's going to be such a great wedding. Again, I can't wait (I know I say that all the time, but I really mean it - all of you guys rule!) We had all kinds of fun shooting downtown last Wednesday and here are the results.

Thanks again you two and enjoy!

A full post is coming soon, but here's something while you wait.

April 26, 2008: Sarah and Glenn

Sarah and Glenn were married this Saturday during the gorgeous weather that was the calm between the crazy storms we had. Is that a good sign or what?

I truly had a hard time narrowing down the photos for the blog as there were so many wonderful moments at this wedding. Glenn and Sarah's friends and families could not be more thrilled that these two came together. The love and happiness at this wedding was tangible. I wish I could have bottled it up, but since I couldn't, I was honored to be a part of it for a few hours.

The wedding took place at Vista West Ranch in Dripping Springs and was coordinated by the always amazing Becky (along with Kathy and Veda) from Something to Celebrate. Catering was by Primizie and flowers were by Petal Pushers.

Also, big thanks to the lovely and talented Lisa Woods for second shooting with me.

Sarah and Glenn - thank you for letting me get to know you and for being completely wonderful every step of the way! I loved being a part of your day. Enjoy Belize and on to the pics!

April 26th is not only Sarah and Glenn's wedding date, but is also Glenn's Grandparents' anniversary. They would have been married 69 years on Saturday. Grandpa is no longer with us, but to honor such a wonderful day, Sarah presented Grandma with her bouquet. Sniffle.

I'm not quite sure what was going on here as they were giggling too hard to explain it, but it sure was cute.

Sarah's Bridals

Here are the Bridals I promised you. Sarah is such a classic beauty and this dress.......sigh. So pretty.

Sarah, her awesome mom Fran and I had a great time kicking around the capitol. Here are the results. I've been itching to share these with you and now that Sarah is married and off to Belize - I can!

The wind gave us a good crazy veil outtake.

Sarah chose this one to display at her wedding.
