February 23, 2008: Tina's Maternity Portraits

Tina's going to have a baby!

So her sweet sister scheduled a portrait session. I had a great time with Tina, her sister and her cousin. We did a few studio shots, which is a departure from my normal style, but very fun, and then we headed out to the park so we didn't waste the gorgeous day!

Thanks so much for including me Tina and I can't wait to meet baby Mia.

Site analysis tools can be hilarious. Wait! Where are you going? It's true!

I have a little tool that tells me what keywords people searched for that landed them here on my humble blog. It's always interesting and occasionally, very funny. My latest favorite is "sneezing 10 times in a row".

I'm sure my blog wasn't exactly what they were expecting, but I'm glad they stopped by! Now let's ponder why someone would be google-ing that...

Happy weekend everyone!

February 10, 2008: Elisa

Welcome baby Elisa!!!

I was supposed to photograph mom, Rita's, maternity portraits, but due to a bit of a rough patch towards the end of her pregnancy, we had to postpone. Look who I got to photograph instead!

Elisa is only 2 weeks old here and there is not a more alert and ready to take on the world little newborn around. I love newborn sessions!

Thank you so much for allowing me some time with your brand new family!!

I think this is her first "But mom!!!"

Dallas Ah-Choo!

Not that you asked, but I've been up in Dallas for the past few days getting the little one some Grandparent time and doing a little work.

I love seeing the family, but MAN are the allergies killing me up here! I just sneezed like 10 times in a row.

See you soon Austin - I missed you!

Cute pictures coming up this week.

February 10, 2008: Carrie and Zach E-Session

This is Carrie.

And this is Zach.
They have the best time when they are together. We puttered around downtown this weekend for another fun engagement shoot. I am the luckiest photographer in town because I got all the best couples this year. These two are so funny and have the most cheery personalities. You have a great time being around them. They also were completely accomodating to all of my silly ideas. Thanks for the fun Sunday afternoon you two! I hope you picked someplace great for dinner!

February 9, 2008: Adrienne & Garrod

I have been having so much fun with Engagement Sessions this year! The amazing weather and incredible couples are certainly making my job easier.

I once learned during an ettiquette lesson (yes, your truly is a southern sorority girl) that the best way to act at any gathering is 'guest as host'. It means that even when you are a guest, you should do your best to make those you encounter comfortable. It's actually a great trick when you're going to a party and you're feeling nervous.

Adrienne and Garrod made me feel like a warmly welcomed guest during our shooting time. They are just delightful all around and a pleasure to be with. I had a wonderful time chatting and shooting on Saturday. Their May wedding is going to be fabulous! I can't wait.

The post where your photographer dorks out

Let me start by saying that I am not a gear head when it comes to cameras. I studied photography at a fine art school where I learned things in the darkroom, with chemicals and......film. I love all of my vintage cameras and still use them quite a bit for my personal work and I firmly subscribe to the theory that it's the photographer that makes the image great and not the equipment. I use professional level equipment, but I generally don't lust for the next great thing.

That being said.....I was this close to hugging the UPS guy when he delivered this:

Ohhhhhh......it's so pretty and so AWESOME! I can't wait to use it for a shoot, but I'm going to be doing some practicing because the manual is THIS big!

For those of you that are like "OK, so it's the height of a penny - that's seems tiny." Ummmm...think again!

More darling couples and babies coming up after this weekend!

January 27, 2008: Allison & Hank

The weather cooperated again for GREAT engagement session light! Woo!

Allison, Hank and I were all over Austin Sunday morning and I had soooo much fun! This is why I encourage multiple locations for engagment shoots. You get so many options and truly, this is the best city ever for fun, creative photography. I also love engagment sessions because they give me a chance to see the couple interact (and generally I'm meeting the groom for the first time).

Anyhoo, enough about me - let's talk about how cute Allison and Hank are! They are so cute! I always ask my couples for a lot of trust as I'm not the most traditional of photographers. In this case, I was trusted more than I could have hoped for. Allison and Hank let me do anything! They even had fun ideas of their own, which resulted in AWESOME photos.

Thanks again you guys! I had so much fun and can't wait for the wedding.

This is what happens when you ask people to be serious.

Distract Me!

Happy Monday peoples!

So I spend a lot of time at the computer due to the business - processing images, burning DVD's, accounting, blah blah blah.

Occasionally, something I'm working on can be running in the background while I browse the interwebs for a little brain break.

Here is my tiny, insignificant problem. I'm bored with all of my frequently visited sites.

Have any suggestions? I need something that's a quick 5 minute browse. I don't want to goof off too much because then I won't be doing work for You......and you know you're my favorite right?

Thanks!

January 19, 2008: Sarah & Glenn E-Session

Sarah and Glenn braved very cold (by Texas and MY standards) weather this past Saturday to do their engagement photos and I'm so glad they did! Morning, winter light CANNOT be beat! Seriously people - get up early and let's bundle up!
SO many exclamation points!!!! Sarah asked me if I was cheerleader in high school and I'm starting to get why.

I had a great time with these two - I know I say this all the time, but I love my clients! I can't wait for your wedding Sarah and Glenn! You are as cute as it gets. Thanks again.....

A BIG Thank You! The Bridal Show Wrap-Up.

Thank you so much to all of you who stopped by my booth this past weekend to say hello and get some information. I really, REALLY enjoyed talking to all of you.

This was my first Bridal Show, as a bride or vendor, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I had such a great time! My family and I are always so happy that we were able to move back to Austin and it's occasions like the show that reinforce that for me. You all were so wonderful and funny and interesting. I loved hearing about all of your ideas and wedding plans. I am also so thrilled that I'm already signed up to shoot some of your weddings. Thank you for your trust.

On a personal note, I feel like the show has enabled me to be a better resource for you all. I met some of the coolest vendors that I would love to recommend. I also want you to know, that while I would love for you to hire me as your photographer, there are some incredibly talented and fun photographers here in Austin. I made a lot of fun friends this weekend.

Thanks again and I'll be talking with you soon!

-Shannon

Wedding Show

Hey, what are you doing this weekend?

I will be at the Austin Wedding Extravaganza!

If you're shopping for a wedding photographer (or really pretty much anything having to do with your planning), stop by and say hi! I'll be in booth 217 and I can't wait to meet you!
