In the way back machine...

Just for fun this leap year Friday, I thought I'd share something with you. My Uncle sent this picture to me the other day and I just love it. This is my Dad's side of the family, including the dogs, in the early 80's. I think we're in my Grandparents backyard in Ohio.

And yes, that is me in the blue terry cloth romper. (?!?)

There are so many things I love about this picture - my Mom's crazy hair (permed, of course), the 'stare directly into the sun at high noon' effect, my cousin's knee socks.

My favorite thing is that it's all the family together. We've always lived in vastly different parts of the country and I think the last time we were all together was at my wedding, so these photos are extremely precious to me.

February 23, 2008: Tina's Maternity Portraits

Tina's going to have a baby!

So her sweet sister scheduled a portrait session. I had a great time with Tina, her sister and her cousin. We did a few studio shots, which is a departure from my normal style, but very fun, and then we headed out to the park so we didn't waste the gorgeous day!

Thanks so much for including me Tina and I can't wait to meet baby Mia.

Site analysis tools can be hilarious. Wait! Where are you going? It's true!

I have a little tool that tells me what keywords people searched for that landed them here on my humble blog. It's always interesting and occasionally, very funny. My latest favorite is "sneezing 10 times in a row".

I'm sure my blog wasn't exactly what they were expecting, but I'm glad they stopped by! Now let's ponder why someone would be google-ing that...

Happy weekend everyone!

February 10, 2008: Elisa

Welcome baby Elisa!!!

I was supposed to photograph mom, Rita's, maternity portraits, but due to a bit of a rough patch towards the end of her pregnancy, we had to postpone. Look who I got to photograph instead!

Elisa is only 2 weeks old here and there is not a more alert and ready to take on the world little newborn around. I love newborn sessions!

Thank you so much for allowing me some time with your brand new family!!

I think this is her first "But mom!!!"

Dallas Ah-Choo!

Not that you asked, but I've been up in Dallas for the past few days getting the little one some Grandparent time and doing a little work.

I love seeing the family, but MAN are the allergies killing me up here! I just sneezed like 10 times in a row.

See you soon Austin - I missed you!

Cute pictures coming up this week.

February 10, 2008: Carrie and Zach E-Session

This is Carrie.

And this is Zach.
They have the best time when they are together. We puttered around downtown this weekend for another fun engagement shoot. I am the luckiest photographer in town because I got all the best couples this year. These two are so funny and have the most cheery personalities. You have a great time being around them. They also were completely accomodating to all of my silly ideas. Thanks for the fun Sunday afternoon you two! I hope you picked someplace great for dinner!

February 9, 2008: Adrienne & Garrod

I have been having so much fun with Engagement Sessions this year! The amazing weather and incredible couples are certainly making my job easier.

I once learned during an ettiquette lesson (yes, your truly is a southern sorority girl) that the best way to act at any gathering is 'guest as host'. It means that even when you are a guest, you should do your best to make those you encounter comfortable. It's actually a great trick when you're going to a party and you're feeling nervous.

Adrienne and Garrod made me feel like a warmly welcomed guest during our shooting time. They are just delightful all around and a pleasure to be with. I had a wonderful time chatting and shooting on Saturday. Their May wedding is going to be fabulous! I can't wait.

On to pics!

The post where your photographer dorks out

Let me start by saying that I am not a gear head when it comes to cameras. I studied photography at a fine art school where I learned things in the darkroom, with chemicals and......film. I love all of my vintage cameras and still use them quite a bit for my personal work and I firmly subscribe to the theory that it's the photographer that makes the image great and not the equipment. I use professional level equipment, but I generally don't lust for the next great thing.

That being said.....I was this close to hugging the UPS guy when he delivered this:

Ohhhhhh......it's so pretty and so AWESOME! I can't wait to use it for a shoot, but I'm going to be doing some practicing because the manual is THIS big!

For those of you that are like "OK, so it's the height of a penny - that's seems tiny." Ummmm...think again!

More darling couples and babies coming up after this weekend!
