March 15, 2008: Ashley & Owen

Oh wow, was Saturday a great day for wedding or what? I was back working with The Schmitt and as usual, it did not disappoint.

Ashley and Owen's Kali-Kate Wedding was definitely one of the parties of the year so far. I had so much fun watching their friends and family happily celebrate their wedding.

The event was coordinated by the delightful Wendee (and Angela and Lindsey) of Lucie's Events and they were fab.

I am hopeful that you are in a comfortable chair as things got a little out of hand as I was choosing pictures for the blog. Let's get started.

Here's one of the zillion reasons to have your wedding at Kali Kate.

First Dance

OK, so here is where things start to get awesome. (in the raising your arm in the rock out sense of the word). The dancing at this wedding was superb. I could do an entire separate post on it, but I will just give you a little series that is my favorite.

There is something about Journey's 'Don't Stop Believing' that turns mere men into rock legends. It starts with air guitar....

Then you need to add some drumming.

Then a crowd starts gathering as you really begin to rock it.

And then there's this. Just sort of soak this all in for a minute.

Cheering on the other dancers. For a look at the groom doing a back flip, head over to Tyler's blog. You won't regret it.

The End.

Have an amazing honeymoon in Whistler you two and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your day. I will not soon forget it.

'Don't Stop Believing' kids.

Fun Find Friday

Are you as addicted to Etsy.com as I am? So while browsing today I found this:

This is such a cute and creative ring 'pillow' for your ceremony. I've never seen anything like it.
It's at this shop called Paloma's Nest. Here's the best part you guys -Caroline, the owner is local!
So you can get something one of a kind and support a local Austin artist as well. Win/Win!
Have a great weekend everyone. I have a busy few days ahead of me, so I'll be back with new blog updates early next week!

March 9, 2008: Ashley & Nathan

Ashley & Nathan! What better way to wrap up my weekend then with another wonderful engagement shoot? I was a little nervous before this shoot as Nathan and Ashley know a lot about photography and they were going to know if I was messing things up. But once I got over that, we had a great time. Their May wedding is going to be wonderful. I learned about lots of the cool details during our shoot.

Because I haven't mentioned it enough recently, I got all the best couples this year. These two are no exception - they are cute, perfect for each other and super fun. Thanks so much for all the trust and the fun!

Ashley and Nathan wanted to incorporate a cinder block into their images as it relates back to their first date. It's not my story to tell, so I won't tell it here, but it's really cute. I love stuff like this - making your shot personal is a great idea.

A little texture - what do you think? I normally don't do much of this, but was in the mood to play in Photoshop.

I looove this image.

March 8, 2008: Heidi & Clayton

Woo! Weddings!

I had a super fantastic time shooting with Tyler Schmitt this weekend for Heidi and Clayton's Texas Old Town wedding! Congrats you two and thanks for letting me be a part of your day. It was a joy to meet you and your families.

I got to hang out with the guys to start out. Here are some scenes from the Great 2008 Pocket Square Debate. I learned that I have no idea how a pocket square is supposed to be folded.

Right after Dad gave his toast. He choked up a little bit and when he came over to Heidi's Mom, he said "I almost lost it there". Then she said "I know, but you did great." Awwwww.

Groovy DJ lights

If only Clayton had some personality, we could have gotten some good shots.....;)

In the way back machine...

Just for fun this leap year Friday, I thought I'd share something with you. My Uncle sent this picture to me the other day and I just love it. This is my Dad's side of the family, including the dogs, in the early 80's. I think we're in my Grandparents backyard in Ohio.

And yes, that is me in the blue terry cloth romper. (?!?)

There are so many things I love about this picture - my Mom's crazy hair (permed, of course), the 'stare directly into the sun at high noon' effect, my cousin's knee socks.

My favorite thing is that it's all the family together. We've always lived in vastly different parts of the country and I think the last time we were all together was at my wedding, so these photos are extremely precious to me.
