Update on your clumsy photographer

I am alive and well!
Savannah has been saying "poor clumsy Mama bonked her head and then her face was all red" for the last week. I think that about sums it up.

I ran off to my parent's house and let them take care of me for a few days and then went on a long weekend with the husband. I am as good as new. However, I don't think I have any new superpowers or anything, which is a little disappointing frankly.

I have a busy weekend ahead, so look for updates with pretty people early next week. In the meantime, Savannah started ballet class and it is about the cutest thing I've ever seen.

And here is the class. Pardon the cruddy picture quality. I had the P&S with me. Note them all nicely standing in a line. What's my kid doing? Standing the other way, because she's just that way. Totally her own girl. I think the poor teacher told her to get back on her piece of tape 400 times in 45 minutes.

Really? I mean...really? Did that just happen?

So my husband is out of town. I thought I'd be hip mom and take Savannah to Central Market for dinner and some playground time. Dinner was great - we got gelato afterwards and then settled in for some playground time.

I was chasing after her on the playground. We were playing this game where I'd sneak up on her and scare her - she loves it. However, I misjudged a height and cracked the heck out of my head on a metal support. There was blood, there were paramedics, there was a nauseous Shannon. It was all very horrible and totally scary as I had no support at home.

THANK YOU to the lovely strangers at Central Market that took care of me and my daughter. THANK YOU to my wonderful neighbors who checked on me all night. Seriously, Texans are the best - THE BEST!!!

I am in general OK - I have a massive headache. I, of course, took pictures of my bloody head and will get around to posting them soon, but I wanted to let you know that in addition to a concussed head, I will be taking a little R&R week around here. It was actually planned in advance, but I'll be a bit slow on email and phone calls.

As always, please call if there are any photography related emergencies. You know I'm happy to chat with any of you!

Savannah eating Dinner

By the way, these were all taken with my new Point and Shoot camera, the Canon SD-870. I'm still playing around with it and figuring somethings out, but so far, so good. I can definitely recommend it. Put a question in the comments or email me if you want more info.

June 4, 2008: Jackie & Matt are Engaged!

Matt and Jackie are getting married! Woo! I really, really like these two. They are so fun and down to Earth and generally relaxed about everything. I enjoyed my time with them on Wednesday quite a bit.

As I can't mention enough, my clients rock and I love that I generally leave a session happier than when I got there because I got to hang out with some really nice people. We headed up to Mt. Bonnell to shoot some engagement portraits. Oh, Mt. Bonnell, I could never stay mad at you and your pretty sunsets and cool stonework.

Thanks so much you guys and enjoy! I'll chat with you soon!

May 31, 2008: Adrienne & Garrod

I have been looking forward to this wedding for quite a while.

Adrienne and Garrod are two of the most wonderful people you can meet. They really are two halves of a whole and I am just beyond happy for them. This is a 'comfortable chair' post as I was all over town with them yesterday and went a little blog crazy.

The day started, as most weddings do, at the Bowling Alley. Oh wait, most wedding days don't start at the Bowling Alley! But that's what makes this wedding extra-awesome!

All the gents were having a few casual games of bowling before the main festivities. And when I say casual, I actually mean totally competitive. These guys had their own shoes and balls, y'all. The balls had names too - this is Garrod with 'Umberto'.

I love this series - I believe this is a come from behind, last-minute victory.

Meanwhile, the girls were having slightly more typical pre-game festivities. This is Adrienne opening a quilt that her Nana and Aunt's quilting circle spent two (2!!!!!) years making. Amazing.

A little make-up

Then we were off to Green Pastures in South Austin. I cannot say enough about this place. Everything ran so smoothly and the food was delish! Plus it's just a lovely, southern venue. Love it!Tanya and her team did an amazing job.

Getting pinned. One of Garrod's groomsmen did all the boutonniere pinning and he was like a ninja! So fast you guys! He should rent himself out for weddings.

Men.

Adrienne

Here we go....

The lovely couple

They had a special first dance planned - perfectly executed.

Thank you so much for allowing me this wonderful time with you and your families. Have a wonderful time in Costa Rica!

May 28, 2008: Chris & Jessica: Engaged

Chris & Jessica met me up on Mt. Bonnell Wednesday for some perfect evening lighting conditions. Add in the fact that they are in looove, pretty darn easy on the eyes and incredibly nice people and you get a really nice photo session.

Thanks so much you guys! Only one month to go - I'll see you soon.

Enjoy!

May 24, 2008: Kathryn & Daniel

Hey! If your name is Debbie or Bill and your kids are Kathryn and Daniel, then stop reading right now!!! I'll wait....

OK, so this was a top secret anniversary mission by Kathryn and Daniel. Apparently, they used to get brother/sister pictures taken every year, but with kids and moving and just general stuff getting in the way, the tradition lapsed....until this year!! Woo! We had so much fun in downtown. Adult siblings are a blast to shoot and these two were (as most of my clients are) up for anything.

Thanks for being so fun you guys! (And for being so understanding about my early equipment issues - darn technology!)

Enjoy!
